Opportunities to Meet NSF Program Directors in January at SICB and PAG! 

Staff from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) will be attending the annual meetings of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB)  January 2-6, 2024 in Seattle, WA, and the Plant & Animal Genome Conference (PAG 31) January 12-17, 2024 in San Diego, CA.  

At both conferences you can join our workshops and visit the NSF booth to learn about the various funding opportunities at NSF! You can also visit the booth to sign up for individual appointments to meet with our NSF Program Directors during the conference. 

Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) – January 2-6 (Seattle, WA) 
The NSF Booth #208 will be open through Friday at 5pm.  

The Division of Integrative Organismal Systems (IOS) and the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCB) will also present at multiple sessions: 

  • What’s New in BIO with a Q&A session on Thursday, January 4 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in the Arch Building, 6th Floor: 606 
  • Workshop on Student Research Opportunities on Wednesday, January 3 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in the Arch Building, 6th Floor: 612 
  • Short Briefings during the SICB Division Member Meetings on Wednesday, January 3 and Thursday, January 4 from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. (consult the conference program for locations)

NSF will be present at two workshops: 

  • January 13, 2024, at 6:20 – 8:30 p.m., Pacific C, for a workshop targeted towards early-stage researchers to discuss current funding opportunities at NSF, DOE, and USDA, with Q&A with PDs.  
  • January 14, 2024, at 1:30 – 3:40 p.m., Pacific A, for the “Beyond the National Plant Genome Initiative: New Frontiers and Grand Challenges in Plant Genomics” workshop to discuss goals, resources, and tools needed for new and ambitious national research efforts.
