Did you miss it? December 2022 Virtual Office Hours Recap: Meet the IOS Program Directors.

The slides are available here

The Division of Integrative Organismal Systems (IOS) held a Virtual Office Hour (VOH) on December 15th, 2022 providing information on current solicitations and Dear Colleague Letters the community might wish to investigate before moving on to the topic of the month – Meet the IOS Program Directors.

We did something a bit different during this VOH – program directors from all IOS core clusters and programs, plus those associated with special funding opportunities in IOS, met with audience members in virtual breakout rooms.  Information was shared and questions answered as audience members were free to interact with program directors as a group or one-on-one.

Some general information we shared during this VOH:

  • IOS program directors will be attending the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB, January 3-7, 2023) and the Plant and Animal Genomes (PAG, January 13-18, 2023) meetings.  Come stop by the NSF booths at these meetings and meet with program directors. We look forward to speaking with you!
  • A new Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG; NSF 23-01) will be in effect beginning January 30, 2023.  Proposals submitted on January 30th or later will need to follow the guidance found in the updated PAPPG.
  • Did you know that IOS program specialists are responsible for checking submitted proposals to make sure that they are ‘compliant’ (e.g., they look to make sure you are following the PAPPG and solicitation requirements) prior to review? In our new ‘Message from our Administrative Staff’, program specialists would like to remind you that the proposal you are in the process of submitting needs to be identified as pending support on your Current and Pending Support document.

Look for more opportunities to meet program directors in future VOH’s! Everyone seemed to agree we need to do this again!

Please join us on January 19, 2023 for our next IOS Virtual Office Hour. In January, we will discuss the Enabling Discovery through Genomics (EDGE) solicitation – NSF 21-546.  The next submission deadline for EDGE is February 16, 2023, so bring your questions and learn more about this opportunity!
