NSF will no longer use FastLane to accept proposals starting in January 2023

NSF’s FastLane system has been around for some time. It has been used as both a grant submission portal by PIs and as an interactive panel system through which reviewers can submit grant reviews and panelists can enter panel summaries.

Since September 2020, NSF has been working to retire the proposal submission capabilities of the FastLane system. This means that the system with which so many PIs have become familiar will no longer be an option to submit proposals. Instead, proposal submission will occur via either Research.gov or Grants.gov.

The last day to submit a new proposal or a new supplemental funding request in FastLane is Friday, January 27, 2023 (5:00 PM submitter’s local time). The last day to submit proposal file updates/budget revisions in FastLane is Friday, September 29, 2023 (5:00 PM submitter’s local time).

The NSF community will continue to receive information reminding them of the transition from FastLane to Research.gov and Grants.gov but a good strategy would be to start using either of those two options now!

Just as a reminder, the FastLane interactive panel system will continue to be available for use  by panelists and reviewers.
