Did you know? There are new opportunities to support U.S. – U.K. collaborations!

NSF has released a new Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) on Research Collaborations between U.S. NSF and the U.K. Research and Innovation (UKRI). The DCL, NSF 22-107, details how the NSF and the UKRI have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to encourage collaboration between U.S. and U.K. researchers. This DCL provides information, including topic areas of interest and which Divisions within NSF’s Directorate for Biological Sciences (NSF/BIO) will allow U.S. and U.K. researchers to submit a single collaborative proposal that will undergo a single review process by one of the lead agencies (either NSF/BIO or UKRI/BBSRC).

The specific 2022/2023 topic areas of interest presented in this DCL are:

  • Biological Informatics
  • Systems Understanding of Host-Microbe Interaction
  • Synthetic Cells and Cellular Systems
  • Synthetic Microbial Communities

Please read through the DCL carefully for more information on the requirements, proposal preparation and submission guidelines, and due dates. As always, you are encouraged to reach out to a Program Director if you have questions. We are here to help!
