Summer is the time for scientific conferences, and your IOS Program Directors (PDs) are attending several. Depending on the conference, PDs will have different levels of engagement but the goal at any conference is for PDs to meet members of the scientific community – just like you.
PDs may be giving talks in sessions on grant funding opportunities or sitting on a panel providing tips for proposal preparation. You might see them sitting at a table during the poster session where you can get general information or ask specific questions about NSF funding opportunities. At some conferences, PDs even will have a sign-up sheet to schedule one-on-one meetings with members of the community. No matter what the avenue, NSF PDs want to meet and interact with you so don’t hesitate to come up and say hi.
