Farewell to Rosetta Rhine IOS Program Support Manager* and Farewell to rotating** Program Director, Clifford Weil!

IOS would like to take this opportunity to thank Rosetta Rhine for her 11-year service and to bid her farewell. Rosetta has been a valued member of the IOS team as the Program Support Manager, supervisor of the IOS support team. Rosetta was appreciated in the division for her leadership abilities and for doing a wonderful job of managing and building a great support team. Rosetta will not be departing the National Science Foundation, as she has accepted a management position in the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCB), a division in the Directorate for Biological Sciences. We look forward to seeing her around the building or virtually during BIO Zoom meetings. Best wishes for continued success and we wish her happiness in all endeavors in the coming years!

Clifford Weil joined IOS as a rotating program director from Purdue University, where he is a Professor of Agronomy. Cliff’s lab works on using genetics and genomics for cereal crop improvement, largely in maize and sorghum. He and his lab team are primarily interested in understanding how to improve the digestibility of the starch and protein in the grain for food and feed uses. They are also looking at the basic genetic controls that determine how, when and where sugars move throughout the plant, a central question for both development and yield. IOS thanks Cliff and will miss working with him as a Program Director in the Plant Genome Research Program where he brought insight, a collaborative team spirit, and a great sense of humor to IOS.

**rotating Program Directors are scientists hired into temporary 1-3 year positions at NSF to help administer proposal review, make funding recommendations and contribute to NSF outreach efforts.
