Updated Data Management Plan Guidance for BIO Investigators

The Office of the Assistant Director (OAD) for the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) has posted an updated version of the guidance for Data Management Plans (DMPs) required in proposals. The updated guidance can be found on the BIO web pages under “Additional Resources” or directly at https://www.nsf.gov/bio/biodmp.jsp.

The site notes that “Each DMP should be appropriate for the data, software/code, and materials being generated, and each should reflect the best practices and standards in the area of research being proposed. While norms and expectations about the dissemination, publication, and archival deposit varies by data type and across research communities, PIs are encouraged to consider how data management will facilitate robust and reliable research and improve public access to research results.“
