On 1 June, 2016 IOS received a robust set of full proposals for the new EDGE track of the current IOS core programs solicitation (NSF 16-505) and they have been assigned to members of the working group to manage. Currently, the working group members are busy building the EDGE panel and will soon be requesting written outside reviews from members of the IOS community. If you receive a request to review, please consider participating!
Because this new activity is focused on developing tools for functional genomics that can be used across IOS communities, these proposals will not review in the regular core program panels. Instead we will convene a single EDGE review panel in August that includes members with tool-building and dissemination expertise and scientific expertise representing all of the IOS programs. The first awards for EDGE proposals are expected to occur in the upcoming fiscal year which begins in October, 2016.
