Post Panel Progress Update

You might have noticed the blog has been silent as of late. IOS has been busy with spring preliminary proposal panels for the regular core programs and letters of intent for the new EDGE track which were due 29 April, 2016. PGRP has been busy with the postdoctoral program and its awards. Meanwhile, some of our program directors also participated in the GRFP and INCLUDES panels too. Spring is a very busy time here at NSF!

All preliminary proposal panels are now completed and the program directors are finishing the documentation for their decisions regarding projects they wish to invite. As before, invitations will go out by program so everyone in that group has exactly the same amount of time between receiving their invitation and the full proposal deadline. Our goal is to have all the invitations out by 16 May, 2016 similarly to previous years. We will continue to be busy working to ensure that everyone receives their reviews by early June. Please hold off contacting your program director so that they can get feedback to your entire community in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, excitement is growing for the new EDGE track. We received a diverse set of LOIs and expect a strong group of proposals for the 1 June, 2016 deadline. We are starting to plan the panels that will occur in August with funding for EDGE projects expected in the next fiscal year (after 1 October, 2016).

We expect to resume more regular blog postings in June, until then Happy Spring!
